Constable Edward DickĀ 

Edward Dick joined the City of Glasgow Police and was posted to the ‘C’ (Eastern) Division.

On 17 May, 1947, Constable Dick was on foot patrol in London Road, Glasgow, when he saw a runaway horse and cart travelling towards him at speed. Constable Dick, in complete disregard for his own safety, ran towards the frightened horse, seized hold of its reigns and was successful in bringing the horse to a halt. No one was injured in the incident.

For his bravery, Constable Dick was awarded the King’s Commendation for Brave Conduct and the Glasgow Corporation Medal for Bravery.
